PULMONARY REHABILITATION

What is Pulmonary Rehabilitation?

  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a program designed to improve the quality of life for people suffering from lung diseases. The program consists of exercises, breathing techniques and education. The treatment is provided by certified Respiratory Therapists, who have years of experience dealing with COPD patients.
  • Patient comes to our conveniently located clinic 2-3 times a week for 8-12 weeks.

Is Pulmonary Rehabilitation right for me?

  • Sitting around doing nothing is one of the biggest mistakes a person with lung disease can make. Inactivity results in deconditioning of your muscles and a sensation of increased shortness of breath whenever you do something. Pretty soon you become almost chair-bound and may become increasingly depressed.
  • We have seen many people with COPD who, barely walk 50 feet before Pulmonary Rehabilitation, can walk 10-15 times that far after participating in a Pulmonary Rehabilitation program.
  • If your lung function is reduced enough that you feel impaired in your normal physical activity and/or your job, you will benefit from a Pulmonary Rehabilitation program.

What are the benefits?

Upon completion of a Pulmonary Rehabilitation program, you will:
• Breathe better
• Have more strength, stamina, endurance
